The
Lion and the Mouse
Once
upon a time, a Lion is asleep. A little Mouse begins running up and down upon him. This soon wakes the Lion. He places
his huge paw upon him. He opens his big jaws to swallow him.
"Pardon
me, O King," cries the little Mouse. "Forgive me this time, I shall never forget it. Who knows but what I may be able to do
you a turn some of these days?"
The Lion
is so tickled at the idea of the Mouse being able to help him. He lifts up his paw and lets him go.
Some time
after the Lion is caught in a trap. The hunters want to carry him alive to the King. They tie him to a tree. Just
then the little Mouse happens to pass by. She sees the sad plight in which the Lion is. She goes up to him. She eats
away the ropes that bind the King of the Beasts.
"Was
I not right?" said the little Mouse.
Poem
In the heart of a seed
Buried deep so deep
A dear little plant
Lay fast asleep
“Wake, said the sun
And creep to the light.”
“Wake,” said the voice
Of the raindrops bright.
The little plant heard
And arose to see
What the wonderful
Outside world might be.
Clapping Game:
1, 2, I like you. 2, 3, you like me.
I like Jim. I like Sue.
Song and Game:
I’m a great big lion. You can hear
me roar.
I
have eaten so much, but I want more and more…

The Little Seed
Once upon a time, there is a little
seed lying in the earth. She is waiting and waiting.
One day an ant comes and says: ‘Spring
is here.’
The next day, a worm passes by. ‘Spring
is here.’
The little seed is very excited.
'If Spring is coming, then I must start growing!' She begins to push a white root down into the earth, and at the same time
she pushes upwards a delicate white shoot. The little seed grows and grows until... oh dear, what is this?
A big rock is in her way- it is as hard
as iron and fixed firmly in the earth. What can I do? She hears a CRACK in the center of the stone. She slips the tip
of the shoot in the hole, and grows and grows.
All
of a sudden, the darkness falls and the world is full of warmth and light. The plant has sprouted. She grows into a tall beautiful
flower...
Poem:
Dig a little hole.
Plant a little seed.
Pour a little water.
Pull a little weed.
Chase a little bug-
Heigh-ho, there he goes!
Give a little sunshine,
Grow a little rose.
Song:
Cuckoo, cuckoo, messenger clear,
What are you singing?
What are you bringing?
Springtime, Springtime, Springtime is
near.

The Rabbit and the Turtle
A rabbit one day laughed at the small
feet and slow pace of the Turtle. The turtle grinned. "You may be swift as the wind, but I will beat you in a race." "Simply
impossible," laughed the Rabbit and agreed to a race.
On the day of the race the two started
together. The Turtle never for a moment stopped, but went on with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the course.
The Rabbit, lying down by the wayside, fell fast asleep.
At last waking up, and moving as fast as he could, he saw the Turtle had reached the winning post,
and won the race.
Poem:
When the leaves are green, are green,
The king will want you for his queen.
When the leaves are brown, are brown,
The king will give you a golden crown.
Song:
Something good is going to happen today.
Something good is going to happen today.
And I can’t wait for this something
good.

The Frogs and the Cow
A cow came down to a pool to drink. As
he splashed heavily into the water, he crushed a young Frog into the mud. The old Frog soon missed the little one and asked
his brothers and sisters what had become of him.
"A great big monster," said one of them,
"stepped on little brother with one of his huge feet!"
"Big, was he!" said the old Frog, puffing
herself up. "Was he as big as this?"
"Oh, much bigger!" they cried.
The Frog puffed up still more. "He could
not have been bigger than this," she said. But the little Frogs all declared that the monster was much, much bigger and the
old Frog kept puffing herself out more and more until, all at once, she burst.
Poem:
The great sun is rising above the green
hill.
His golden light gleaming on meadow and
rill.
He shines on the flowers, they wake one
by one
And spread out their petals to greet the
great sun.
Song and Game:
The roses flower on my hat,
And all the angels are so sweet.
Rosie, Rosie, bend over, bend over.
Song:
Walk around the circle.
Walk around the circle.
Walking. Walking. We all fall down.
Gallop. Tiptoe…

Country Mouse and City Mouse
Once a little mouse who lives in the country
invites a little Mouse from the city to visit him. When the little City Mouse sits down to dinner he is surprised to find
that the Country Mouse only eats barley and grain.
"Come to my place. I have many good things
to eat every day." he says. So the little Country Mouse goes to the city to visit his friend.
The City Mouse takes the Country Mouse
to see the kitchen of the house where he lives. They see a big bag of brown sugar. The little City Mouse gnaws a hole in the
bag and invites his friend to nibble for himself.
The two little mice nibble and nibble.
The Country Mouse likes it very much. “Yummy, yummy. How lucky you are!” But all at once, there comes a scratching
at the door and a sharp, loud MIAOUW! "What is that?" says the Country Mouse. The City Mouse just whispers "That is the
old Cat; --if she once gets you, you are lost. Run."
"This is very terrible," says the little
Country Mouse.
"I want to go home. I like to have barley and grain to eat. I like to eat it in peace and comfort.
I don’t like to have brown sugar -- and be afraid all the time!"
Poem:
Standing in a lake
Is a long, tall crane
Little fishes in the water
In and out again.
With his feet he gathers
All his food for the day
As many little fishes
As a tall crane may.
Song:
Make a circle, big, big, big,
Small, small, small, big, big, big.
Make a circle, hello, hello, hello.
Song and Game:
I wrote a letter to my love
And on the way I dropped it.
